Virgin Interactive today announced the exclusive signing of acclaimed development team Rebellion fighting off fierce competition to win the rights to distribute their highly anticipated PC title, Gunlok throughout Europe. The game, a real-time action RPG which already has the specialist press in up in arms, is due for release for PC CD-ROM in Q3 2000.
In Gunlok, players assume the role of the eponymous hero - a robot who has gained consciousness - who must guide four customisable robotic companions through 15 fully-3D environments packed full of explosive combat. A totally configurable viewpoint means players can guide the action from afar, or zoom right in to sit atop the soldiers' shoulders - and there the detail of Rebellion's proprietary technology becomes apparent. The game makes full use of light and shadows as never before, with for the first time proper shadow-on-shadow effects falling across real-time rendered characters. The result is awesome - PC Zone confirming this saying: "The game looks mighty impressive".
